For more details regarding tickets please see the Terms and Conditions.

How much booze can I bring in?

The amount of alcohol you can bring in is limited. We are a small independent and completely non-corporate event so the bar is a vital source of income for us! Therefore we do have to set a limit on the amount of alcohol brought in to the festival.

This is set at 16 cans of beer or cider/2 large bottles of cider or wine/1 bottle of spirits.

Don’t forget – NO GLASS ON SITE!!

Decant any spirits/wine etc into plastic bottles please!

In return though we do have a great bar on site selling very reasonably priced and good quality drinks; from local beers and ciders to Buckfast cocktails. With cold drinks starting at £2.50 you won’t want those warm cans sweating away in your tent anyway!

Can I sell my ticket to my friend?

It is no problem to sell your ticket to a mate, it won’t matter on the gate if the name does not match your ID.

However be very careful about buying tickets from someone you don’t know, every year we have issues at the gate where someone sells their ticket to more than one person and only the first to arrive gets let in. We will not allow you in the festival if your ticket has already been used! The only guaranteed tickets are official ones bought straight from us!

Why is it Over 18 only?

Because that’s just the way it is!

Challenge 25 will be in operation on the gate

Where is Balter Festival 2024?

Balter Festival 2024 will be held at Chepstow Racecourse, Chepstow, NP16 6BE.

When can I arrive?

Gates open at 12pm on Thursday 23rd May if you have a Thursday entry ticket.

For all non-Thursday entry tickets gates open at 10am on Friday 24th May.

Please do not arrive before this, you will just have to wait outside.

Gates will close at 10pm each evening through the weekend and re-open at 10am the following morning. Don’t bother arriving outside of these times as you will have to wait outside, and that ain’t gonna be fun!

Is the festival accessible friendly?

As a festival we are proud to support our accessibility team in making the whole event accessible for everyone. There is a centrally located accessible campsite, with toilets and a shower, and the accessible car park directly next to it. There are additional accessible toilets around the site, and we can help with charging wheelchair batteries or storing medicine etc. Our Accessible Team will do anything we can to assist you, but it would be best to contact us first on info@balterfestival.com if you have any questions or concerns.

If you need extra assistance on site you can apply for a free PA ticket. We will ask to see a copy of your documentation to confirm your eligibility. We accept a copy of any of the following documents (dated within the past 12 months if DLA or Attendance Allowance.)

  • Front page of entitlement letter for standard or enhanced rate PIP
  • Front page of DLA letter (no specific rate required)
  • Front page of Attendance Allowance letter (no specific rate required)
  • Evidence that registered severely sight impaired (blind)
  • Recognised Assistance Dog ID card
  • CredAbility Access Card (with +1 )

We recognise that the above is not a complete list.  If you do not have any of these but wish to apply to use any of our access facilities, you are welcome to contact us so we can discuss your needs.

In order to receive a free PA ticket you would first purchase your own ticket, then email us with the booking details and a copy of a document as listed above.

You do not have to be registered disabled to make use of the accessible campsite or car park, if you have a good reason for requiring its use please just contact us to discuss it and we will be happy to help.

For questions on any of the above please email info@balterfestival.com

Do I need to pay for parking/live-in vehicles?

Tickets for the car park are at a very reasonable £20. Try to lift share where possible, save money and the environment!

Live-in vehicles are allowed but you must have a ticket for it, these are available now for £75. Only one live-in vehicle ticket required per vehicle. The vehicle must be a converted van with a fixed bed. No cars will be permitted into the live-in vehicle field.

Do you sell day tickets?

Sunday tickets are available, we don’t do just Friday or Saturday tickets.

Can I bring my Dog/cat/other pet?

No we’re sorry but absolutely no pets allowed on site

Do you have glamping options?

We’re happy to be working with Fred’s Yurts to provide pre-pitched 4 and 6 person bell tents. You can buy yours by clicking here

Find out more about the tents from their website – yurtevents.co.uk/balterfestival

How can I apply to participate as a volunteer?

Please e-mail volunteers@balterfestival.com for details on volunteering

How can I apply to perform as a musician?

Applications for 2024 are open here

I applied to play, why did I never hear back?

We have a massive response every year with well over 500 applications. We listen through them but we just couldn’t physically reply to everyone other than those successful, we’re a very small team over the winter and we just don’t have the time.
If you weren’t booked its not necessarily because we didn’t like you, we just have very limited spaces available.

How can I apply as a visual artist?

Please check back soon for info on how to apply

How can I apply as a walkabout performer?

Any walkabout or sideshow performers and entertainers can apply by contacting us on jos@balterfestival.com. We especially look for people who involve the crowd in their performance and are particularly fun, or just really weird!

How can I apply as a trader?

Applications for traders are open now, please email traders@balterfestival.com
We only want stalls that sell decent quality stuff that fits into the Balter vibe and ethos.

Will there be medical facilities?

Yes we have a great life saving medical team! They can help with most issues, or get you to a hospital if its really needed! Try not to hurt yourself too badly though, they would prefer a relaxing weekend where possible!
You can find them as always on the edge of the campsite.

If you have particular medical issues that you would like to discuss with us please contact us on info@balterfestival.com
If you need to arrange to refrigerate your medication this is no problem but again please contact us in advance.

Can I have a BBQ/bonfire?

We all love a good fire, but flames and tents are a bad mix. We can’t allow any BBQ’s or campfires, and the campsite will be patrolled by security looking out for these.
You can however bring a small and easily controllable camping stove. Just don’t light it inside your tent!

Do you have quiet camping?

I think you have come to the wrong festival.

Do you have showers?

Yes there will be showers in the campsite available for a small fee .

Can I get cash out or pay by card?

There will not be a cash point on site but the bar will accept cards

Can I leave my unwanted tent behind?

No! If you really don’t want to take it home at least shove it in a bag and hand it in to the info point where we will be collecting for local homeless charities.

I have another question that isn’t on this list?

Give us a shout on info@balterfestival.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
